The vessel is filled with SuperSix ion-exchange resin beads that carry sodium ions. As hard water flows down through the bed, the resin grabs the calcium and magnesium ions that cause hardness and releases sodium in their place. What collects at the bottom and rises up the riser tube is genuinely soft, zero-hardness water. When the resin fills up, the control valve draws salt solution from the brine tank, flushes the captured hardness to drain and recharges the bed — automatically.

It depends on the model: 4 kg per recharge for the WG-25 up to 24 kg for the WG-150. How often it regenerates depends on your water hardness and daily consumption — a typical home unit runs a cycle every few days, so most households simply top up the brine tank once or twice a month. Yes — the programmable control valve and regeneration pump run on a standard 230 V AC / 6 A supply with a 2-point electric connection. Installation footprint is 4 × 5 ft for models WG-25 to WG-125 and 5 × 5 ft for the WG-150, which includes room for the vessel, the brine tank and service access. Maximum operating pressure is 3.5 Bar.

They solve three different problems and are often installed together in that order. A sand filter removes suspended solids, silt and turbidity — it fixes muddy water and choked pipes. A carbon filter removes bad odour, taste, colour, chlorine and organic chemicals. A water softener removes hardness — calcium and magnesium — which is what causes scale, white stains, hair fall and dull laundry. If your water is dirty and hard, the filters protect the softener and make it last far longer.

Sizing comes from two numbers: your daily water consumption and your water hardness. As a guide, at 300 ppm hardness the WG-25 delivers 4,500 litres of soft water per recharge, the WG-75 gives 13,500 litres and the commercial WG-150 gives 27,000 litres. A softener is designed for bathing, laundry, geysers, dishes and machinery — the whole-house supply. Because ion exchange swaps hardness for a small amount of sodium, we recommend keeping a separate RO or drinking-water point in the kitchen rather than drinking softened water directly, particularly for anyone on a sodium-restricted diet. Many customers install the softener for the building and a small RO at the kitchen tap; we supply both.

Very little. Keep salt in the brine tank, and let us service the unit once a year — we check the valve programme, clean the injector, inspect the resin bed and verify output hardness. Sand and carbon filters only need periodic backwash, which the automatic multiport valve handles on its own. Resin typically lasts several years before a top-up or replacement is worthwhile, and we handle that too.
